Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Own the architecture, design, implementation, and operational readiness of significant Azure Boost DPU software components.
- Develop low-level systems software spanning operating systems, virtualization, host infrastructure, device management, and DPU-host interaction layers.
- Design high-performance networking and storage dataplane capabilities optimized for throughput, latency, scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
- Build software interfacing with DPUs, accelerators, PCIe devices, virtualization technologies, and platform management subsystems.
- Lead technical execution, architecture reviews, design alignment, implementation quality, and delivery across multiple engineering teams.
- Diagnose and resolve complex platform, networking, storage, virtualization, performance, reliability, and security challenges.
- Establish software quality, testing, validation, observability, and operational-readiness practices for production environments.
- Collaborate with Azure Core, networking, storage, silicon, firmware, hardware, and platform engineering teams.
- Mentor and develop engineers through technical leadership, design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on guidance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 8+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
- Experience developing low-level systems software such as operating systems, kernel components, hypervisors, virtualization platforms, device drivers, or platform infrastructure services.
- Experience owning significant portions of a DPU, SmartNIC, host platform, or accelerator software stack.
- Experience with hardware acceleration interfaces including PCIe, DMA, SR-IOV, RDMA, NVMe, IOMMU, hardware offloads, and device virtualization.
- Experience designing software at the hardware/software boundary and collaborating with firmware, silicon, platform architecture, and hardware engineering teams.
- Experience developing performance-critical systems software in C/C++ and/or Rust.
- Experience building, debugging, and operating large-scale cloud infrastructure in production.
- Systems performance analysis, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills across platform, networking, storage, or virtualization systems.
- Understanding of high-performance networking and storage dataplanes, I/O subsystems, latency, throughput, scalability, and resource efficiency optimization.
- Familiarity with Linux and Windows internals, virtualization technologies, container platforms, and cloud infrastructure architectures.
- Ability to lead technical design and execution across multiple engineering teams through architecture reviews, design leadership, and hands-on contributions.
- Preferred qualifications include a master's degree with 12+ years of experience or a bachelor's degree with 15+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft Cloud Background Check and applicable customer or government security screening requirements.
Benefits
- Typical U.S. base pay range is $165,600-$296,400 per year, with a separate $220,800-$331,200 range for specified San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan locations.
- Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
- The position is open for a minimum of 5 days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until filled.
