Base Salary
$230k - $260k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead major initiatives and own a large area of Shepherd’s product experience
- Drive technical decisions for the assigned domain and contribute to architectural decisions
- Work across the frontend and backend stack and across disciplines
- Own features and systems end to end, from conception through release
- Contribute to product strategy while balancing innovation with pragmatic delivery
- Mentor engineers and help build the company’s engineering culture
- Collaborate closely with product management, the CTO, underwriters, actuaries, and other insurance team members
- Ship high-quality product improvements frequently
Requirements
- At least 8 years of professional work experience, preferably as a full-stack engineer
- Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript in backend and/or frontend development
- Track record of delivering high-impact products
- Experience working with insurance, InsurTech, or actuarial organizations is preferred
- Experience leading or making major contributions to significant projects
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Willingness to work across engineering, product management, design, underwriting, and other insurance disciplines
