Responsibilities
- Design and deliver major features across PingOne Authentication and SSO services.
- Architect and implement secure, reliable Java microservices and APIs for authentication, authorization, SSO, federation, and application integrations.
- Make technical decisions balancing product requirements, performance, reliability, security, and operational simplicity.
- Partner with Product Management, Architecture, UX, SRE, and engineering teams from discovery through production rollout.
- Improve service resilience, observability, operability, and deployment safety.
- Raise engineering standards for testability, maintainability, and production readiness.
- Drive quality strategy and test automation in continuous integration and continuous deployment environments.
- Use modern engineering and AI-assisted development practices to improve effectiveness, quality, and delivery speed.
- Participate in on-call rotation and help lead incident response, root-cause analysis, and follow-up actions.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of OIDC, SAML, and WS-Fed, including SSO and federation integrations, protocol troubleshooting, and identity provider/service provider configuration.
- Significant hands-on experience building and deploying highly scalable, high-performance cloud services, ideally in a multi-tenant SaaS environment.
- Staff-level Java development experience with fluency in object-oriented design and modern engineering practices.
- UI development experience; ReactJS experience is preferred.
- Experience designing and building microservices and REST APIs, ideally with Spring or similar frameworks.
- Strong technical judgment and experience contributing to technical designs, proof-of-concept work, and architecture discussions.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across a large, globally distributed engineering organization.
- Ability to mentor engineers and improve team-wide engineering practices.
- Experience operating or supporting production SaaS systems, including on-call responsibilities and incident response.
- Comfort with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and modern build and delivery tooling.
- Experience evaluating or building AI agents, agent identity, non-human identity, MCP, or related integrations is a plus.
- Familiarity with Cassandra, Kafka, event-driven distributed systems, secure coding practices, OWASP guidance, PKI, cryptography, and certificate/key management is a plus.
