Responsibilities
- Design and build large-scale distributed ingestion and processing systems for high volumes of unstructured content.
- Develop platform capabilities for content acquisition, workflow orchestration, metadata enrichment, storage, analytics, and distribution.
- Build latency-sensitive backend infrastructure with strong delivery guarantees, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Solve distributed-systems challenges involving resiliency, observability, data quality, consistency, deduplication, retries, malformed content, and recovery.
- Build operational tooling for monitoring ingestion health, processing latency, reliability, alerting, debugging, and recovery.
- Collaborate with global engineering, product, AI, storage, distribution, and ingestion teams.
- Influence architecture, engineering standards, operational practices, and long-term platform strategy.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience using object-oriented languages such as C++, Java, or Python.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong understanding of and experience building large-scale distributed systems.
- Familiarity with messaging systems, caching, storage platforms, replication, partitioning, reliable APIs, and fault-tolerant architectures.
- Strong problem-solving and operational skills, with an interest in correctness, reliability, and maintainability.
- Experience with testing, CI/CD, observability, and modern software development practices.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools and engineering workflows.
- Preferred experience with ingestion pipelines, workflow orchestration, distributed content processing, stream processing, event-driven architectures, high-volume highly available systems, unstructured data platforms, metadata management, indexing, search systems, cloud-native infrastructure, or containerized deployment environments.
- Ability to ramp up quickly, work across teams, and demonstrate the skills necessary for the role; stated experience years are a guide.
