Base Salary

$147k - $210k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of Google’s infrastructure storage systems using metrics, statistics, and explanatory models.
  • Analyze workloads and characterize inefficient behavior and irregular anomalies to identify their causes.
  • Propose improvements to storage architecture, system monitoring, resource provisioning, and production operations policies.
  • Build prototypes, run experiments, and help move innovative storage-system ideas into production.
  • Collaborate with research and data science teams and engage with academic institutions and industrial vendors to guide storage engineering functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Two years of software development experience, or one year of software development experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and analytics frameworks.
  • Experience testing, debugging, and deploying software in C++ and Python.
  • Experience with distributed systems.
  • Preferred: master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Preferred: experience with analysis, databases, experimentation, networking, optimization, storage systems, software development, and operating systems.
