- Manage production services by measuring and monitoring availability, capacity, and system health.
- Shape software before launch through system design consulting, capacity planning, and launch reviews.
- Improve system capacity, reliability, behavior, control, and monitoring.
- Practice incident management and conduct blameless postmortems.
- Define and maintain Service Level Indicators and Service Level Objectives.
- Build automation and self-healing capabilities to reduce operational toil.
- Conduct capacity modeling and performance tuning for future demand.
Requirements
- Experience with one or more of Java, Python, or Perl.
- Experience with automated testing, SDLC concepts, Linux application development, algorithms, data structures, and software design.
- Ability to debug and optimize code and automate routine tasks.
- Proficiency with observability technologies such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or OpenTelemetry.
- Deep understanding of Docker and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of networking protocols and load-balancing strategies in distributed systems.
- Preferred: bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related programming-focused technical field.
- Preferred: SRE experience, relational databases, Hadoop, big data technologies, financial industry or compliance/risk knowledge, chaos engineering, cloud-native architecture, managed cloud services, error budgeting, and Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, ownership, and client-facing skills.
