Responsibilities
- Serve as a Google Cloud Platform subject matter expert and solution architect for Energy & Utilities clients.
- Lead architecture, design, migration, and greenfield implementation of GCP data and analytics platforms, including hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
- Design cloud-native architectures using services such as BigQuery, Bigtable, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Looker, and Vertex AI.
- Evaluate Azure, AWS, GCP, and Databricks capabilities and tradeoffs across cost, performance, compliance, analytics, and AI.
- Lead platform cost modeling, O&M budgeting guidance, and cost-savings initiatives.
- Address security, networking, governance, regulatory requirements, data engineering, analytics, AI, and agentic solutions.
- Advise client leadership and align technical and business stakeholders on roadmaps and architecture decisions.
- Use AI tools and technologies to improve analysis, delivery efficiency, recommendations, and client outcomes.
- Develop GCP adoption methodologies, accelerators, and best practices for regulated utility environments.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to thought leadership, proposals, estimates, risk assessments, and business development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees are a plus.
- At least 8 years of work experience, including at least 3 years designing and implementing cloud solutions on GCP.
- Strong knowledge of cloud data and analytics architectures, batch and streaming pipelines, BigQuery, and AI/ML services including Vertex AI and Agentspace.
- Experience with Azure cloud services and Databricks, including evaluating Azure versus GCP tradeoffs and Databricks deployments.
- Proven success leading large-scale cloud migrations or platform builds from design through implementation.
- Familiarity with utility regulatory and compliance frameworks such as NERC CIP, data residency, security standards, and PSC requirements.
- At least one Google Cloud Professional certification in Data Engineer, Cloud Database Engineer, Cloud Architect, or Machine Learning Engineer.
- Strong communication, technical documentation, stakeholder influence, leadership, and mentoring capabilities.
- Experience integrating AI tools such as ChatGPT into workflows and critically evaluating their accuracy, bias, and output quality.
- Databricks certification and experience with large, regulated utilities are preferred.
