Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Java-based real-time processing components.
- Implement and maintain message-driven integrations using EMS, MQ, Kafka, and APIs.
- Process ISO 20022 payment messages, including pacs.008, pacs.002, and camt messages.
- Own user stories end to end, including analysis, development, testing, release, and production support.
- Participate in incident analysis, root-cause investigations, and production improvements.
- Contribute to performance, resilience, scalability, security, and other non-functional requirements.
- Ensure compliance with ING IT risk, audit, and security requirements.
- Collaborate with SREs, product owners, and global engineering teams.
- Participate in Scrum ceremonies and demonstrate delivered functionality to stakeholders.
Requirements
- 5+ years of Java development experience, including Java 21 and Java 25.
- Strong understanding of the Spring framework, including Spring Boot and Spring Batch.
- Experience with concurrent and thread-safe programming and distributed systems.
- Understanding of clustering technologies such as Cassandra and experience with Kafka.
- Experience with CI/CD tools; the team will use AzDO.
- Experience with Docker, Docker Compose, and Kubernetes.
- Some experience with XML, XSL, and XSD.
- Experience with TDD and BDD, including Cucumber and Gherkin.
- Experience with Scrum and an agile way of working.
- Advanced English-language skills and effective communication.
- Knowledge of security by design and willingness to receive feedback.
- Nice-to-have experience with Java frameworks, messaging platforms, performance testing, observability tools, ISO 20022 standards, financial-market group treasury projects, and multi-location teams.
- A bachelor's degree or higher in an IT-related field is nice to have.
