Principal Software Engineer
Research InnovationsResponsibilities
- Design and develop EW and electromagnetic spectrum operations capabilities for the MAX platform from data model through user-facing workflow.
- Design schemas and data models that unify disparate operational data sources into coherent representations.
- Integrate and validate physics-based RF propagation models, terrain and clutter data, and third-party services through APIs.
- Build and maintain integrations with external C2 systems, sensor feeds, and telemetry sources.
- Use AI-assisted and agentic coding workflows while owning the quality and correctness of shipped software.
- Collaborate through plan reviews and merge requests.
- Demo working software to customers and translate feedback into priorities.
- Support deployment across cloud, on-premises, and edge/DDIL environments.
- Contribute to software design and test documentation and mentor other developers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field and 5+ years of relevant professional experience; an advanced technical degree may substitute for part of the experience.
- Experience modeling complex real-world domains, designing schemas and data models, resolving entities across disparate sources, and integrating data through APIs.
- Professional experience with Python, C#, Java, or similar languages and SQL-based persistence solutions.
- Experience integrating third-party applications and services through REST APIs.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted or agentic software development, including reviewing and verifying AI-generated work.
- Experience with unit testing, test-driven development, and validating one’s own work.
- Experience working in Docker containers and familiarity with Kubernetes-based deployment.
- Experience demoing software to customers and translating user needs into technical requirements.
- Experience mentoring other developers and working independently in a dynamic development environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Active US Top Secret/SCI clearance required.
- Preferred experience includes electromagnetic spectrum operations, RF propagation modeling, DoD customer engagement, terrain and elevation datasets, cross-domain solutions, Tactical Assault Kit, Palantir integrations, and edge/DDIL deployments.
