Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement scalable Java and Spring Boot microservices and distributed applications.
- Drive performance engineering across application, middleware, JVM, API, and database layers.
- Optimize Oracle and PostgreSQL databases through query tuning, execution-plan analysis, indexing, schema optimization, and monitoring.
- Troubleshoot production performance issues involving memory, garbage collection, concurrency, thread management, connection pools, and response times.
- Contribute to GCP cloud modernization, cloud-native architecture, and Snowflake data-platform integrations.
- Collaborate with architects, product managers, DevOps engineers, business stakeholders, and engineering teams.
- Promote code reviews, design reviews, automated testing, CI/CD adoption, observability, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Make architectural decisions related to scalability, resilience, reliability, performance, and cloud adoption.
- Mentor and coach engineers and provide technical guidance through peer reviews and engineering standards.
Requirements
- At least 9 years of hands-on software engineering experience with strong Java and microservices expertise.
- Significant experience designing enterprise-scale, highly scalable distributed systems and cloud-native applications.
- Strong knowledge of microservices architecture, resiliency, scalability, fault tolerance, observability, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, RESTful APIs, and event-driven architectures.
- Proven experience with JVM tuning, memory management, garbage collection, concurrency, profiling, diagnostics, production troubleshooting, and API optimization.
- Strong expertise in Oracle and PostgreSQL, including SQL tuning, execution-plan analysis, indexing, schema and data-model optimization, scalability, and monitoring.
- Experience with business-critical systems requiring high performance, scalability, reliability, and availability.
- Experience integrating enterprise applications with Snowflake, including data ingestion, ETL/ELT, integration patterns, and application connectivity.
- Experience deploying applications on public cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform.
- Understanding of distributed systems, caching, concurrency, performance engineering, and cloud-native architecture.
- Preferred experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, RabbitMQ, observability platforms, SRE practices, Infrastructure as Code, data engineering or analytics platforms, Python, Git, Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps methodologies.
- Prior technical leadership, mentoring, and development-team guidance experience.
- Ability to use AI tools responsibly to improve productivity and solve business problems.
