Responsibilities
- Optimize critical backend microservices by improving common libraries used across Wise.
- Develop organization-wide code-based strategies for capacity, autoscaling, resiliency, performance, and redundancy.
- Deep-dive into services with engineering teams, recommend best practices, and implement reliability improvements.
- Contribute hands-on software engineering work using backend languages and reliability practices such as development, resiliency patterns, and observability.
- Troubleshoot application, database, and data-related issues.
- Collaborate cross-functionally and influence how teams prioritize reliability.
Requirements
- Product engineering background with a desire to have significant impact.
- Strong experience working with microservices in Kubernetes and cloud-based architectures.
- Hands-on software engineering experience with Java or other backend languages.
- Experience applying development, resiliency, and observability practices.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting application, database, and data-related issues.
- Strong collaboration, prioritization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with limited project context and influence team priorities.
- Willingness to learn skills beyond current experience is supported.
Benefits
- Starting salary of £87,500 - £111,000 plus RSUs.
