Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software for semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
- Develop Windows and real-time operating system applications for machine control.
- Troubleshoot real-time control systems and diagnose software, electrical, and mechanical issues.
- Lead technical escalations with field engineers and global customers.
- Investigate internal and customer-reported issues and develop effective solutions.
- Partner with Quality Assurance and Support teams to improve issue resolution and regression test coverage.
- Author and review software requirements, system specifications, design documents, and test plans.
- Evaluate software engineering tools, processes, and best practices.
- Participate in system architecture, software design, and scheduling initiatives.
- Integrate and support factory automation interfaces, including SECS/GEM and related industry protocols.
- Collaborate with automation teams to ensure reliable communication between manufacturing equipment and factory systems.
- Support the responsible adoption of AI-enabled development to improve problem resolution, software quality, and engineering scalability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of software development experience in a full-stack or systems-focused environment.
- At least 10 years of software development experience including software architecture and system design.
- Strong software development experience using C#.
- Experience developing machine control software, preferably for semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
- Hands-on experience with factory automation systems.
- Familiarity with SECS/GEM, GEM300, and EDA (Interface A) protocols.
- Experience working with Automated Material Handling Systems (AMHS).
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools, large language models, and generative-AI-enabled software engineering practices.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and real-time operating systems.
- Experience building multithreaded and real-time applications.
- Hands-on experience with GUI development and device drivers.
- Knowledge of networking, industrial communications, and EtherCAT.
- Understanding of dynamic scheduling algorithms and deadlock avoidance techniques.
- Experience integrating AI, machine learning, or data-driven solutions into production software systems or engineering workflows.
- Ability to travel 10–25% domestically and internationally.
