Base Salary
$112k - $160k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, debug, and maintain firmware for optical modules, transceivers, and related products.
- Implement embedded software for microcontrollers and real-time operating systems.
- Develop and execute unit, integration, and system tests for firmware quality and robustness.
- Collaborate with hardware, manufacturing, and test engineering teams on requirements, interfaces, product bring-up, debugging, and production ramp-up.
- Contribute to firmware architecture discussions and design reviews.
- Analyze and resolve firmware performance and stability issues.
- Document firmware designs, specifications, and test plans.
- Keep current with embedded systems and optical networking technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in embedded firmware development, preferably in optical networking or telecommunications.
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems.
- Experience with bare-metal development and real-time operating systems such as FreeRTOS or similar.
- Understanding of microcontroller architectures such as ARM Cortex-M/R and peripheral interfaces including I2C, SPI, UART, USB, and Ethernet.
- Familiarity with hardware/software co-design and debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and in-circuit debuggers.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Knowledge of digital signal processing or control systems is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, independent work, collaboration, and written and verbal communication skills.
