Base Salary
$202k - $224k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build globally scalable, highly available systems for orchestration, monitoring, and compute frameworks.
- Build and extend Uber’s multi-cloud Compute platform across complex infrastructure and diverse workloads.
- Improve Linux-based resource utilization and enable graceful degradation during resource contention.
- Provide technical mentorship, establish organization-wide standards, and review architecture, designs, and code.
- Lead large-scale engineering projects through inception, implementation, and global productionization.
- Collaborate with major cloud providers to influence roadmaps aligned with Uber’s business needs.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience building scalable, fault-tolerant platforms and business-critical cloud services.
- Proficiency in Go, C/C++, or Java, with the ability to define organization-wide engineering standards.
- Experience leading large-scale engineering projects through their full lifecycle.
- Experience identifying architectural gaps and reducing technical debt across an organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred: 7+ years of relevant experience, experience operating large Linux fleets, and hands-on experience with Linux internals or container orchestration.
- Preferred: experience building compute platforms in AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI; designing Linux features that improve fleet-wide resource utilization; and driving cross-team projects.
