Responsibilities
- Lead the technical side of new opportunities alongside Account Executives from first call through technical win.
- Run discovery with technical and executive stakeholders to understand use cases, architectures, data needs, and success criteria.
- Build and deliver tailored demos, sample applications, and end-to-end prototypes.
- Design and run workshops and proofs of concept with defined success criteria, timelines, and evaluation plans.
- Benchmark Exa on quality, latency, and cost and make the technical case against alternatives.
- Handle technical objections and answer security, compliance, and architecture questions.
- Coordinate with Forward Deployed Engineers and provide clean customer handoffs after close.
- Share market feedback with Product and create reusable presales assets, including demo environments, reference architectures, and evaluation playbooks.
Requirements
- Several years of hands-on programming experience are required to build demos, implement end-to-end proofs of concept, and run rigorous competitive evaluations.
- At least 2 years of hands-on presales or technical sales experience is required, ideally at an AI-native or developer-first company.
- Strong communication skills are required to explain complex technology to CTOs, engineers, and product managers.
- A track record of high performance in demanding environments is preferred.
- The role requires tolerance for context switching, ambiguity, and sustained intensity.
- Willingness to travel for customer meetings and workshops is required.
- Experience as a solutions architect, solutions engineer, or sales engineer at a developer-tools, API, or AI company would be advantageous.
- Experience building with LLMs, RAG, or agents and understanding retrieval and search quality would be advantageous.
- Experience helping close revenue or drive commercial outcomes would be advantageous.
