Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, deploy, and operate secure, high-throughput streaming and batch data pipelines for rocket-engine telemetry.
  • Define and implement event-driven architectures using Kafka, Kinesis, or Apache Pulsar, including topic, partitioning, and consumer-group strategies.
  • Own search, indexing, time-series, logging, and observability capabilities using Elastic Stack, Grafana, and related tools.
  • Establish DevSecOps practices covering CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, automated testing, secrets management, monitoring, and compliance controls.
  • Design multi-resolution telemetry data models, storage strategies, dashboards, and data views.
  • Develop and productionize AI/ML and LLM-based approaches for anomaly detection, health monitoring, and automated engine data checks.
  • Lead root-cause analysis, corrective actions, performance and capacity optimization, and cost optimization for production data platforms.
  • Author and approve technical designs, interface specifications, test procedures, runbooks, and configuration standards.
  • Lead technical reviews, mentor junior engineers, provide peer guidance, and represent the data platform across multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, data science, information systems, mathematics, physics, aerospace, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience developing and testing software or data systems.
  • Experience as a DevOps, DevSecOps, data, or similar software engineer with ownership of production systems.
  • Experience designing and scaling high-volume streaming and batch data pipelines, CI/CD pipelines, event-driven platforms, Elastic Stack systems, Linux shell scripting, Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, TypeScript or Python, and another programming language.
  • Experience with databases and SQL, including NoSQL, schema and data-model design, dashboards, data visualization, cloud services, and secure software delivery.
  • Experience leading technical reviews and mentoring or providing technical guidance to other engineers.
  • Ability to determine methods and approaches with limited direction, communicate technical recommendations, and collaborate with engineering, IT, security, customers, and leadership.
  • U.S. citizenship or nationality, U.S. permanent residence, or lawful admission as a refugee or asylee is required.
  • Preferred qualifications include time-series databases, stream-processing frameworks, machine-learning models for telemetry, LLMs and AI frameworks, secure DevSecOps tooling, observability tools, data governance, and propulsion or other high-reliability engineering data experience.
  • Additional certifications in data engineering, DevSecOps, or cloud services are preferred.
