Base Salary

$262k - $364k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Define technical strategy for YouTube Shorts discovery models and systems.
  • Provide technical leadership while designing, developing, testing, and deploying large-scale recommendation models and novel ML architectures.
  • Optimize ML infrastructure to support Shorts ecosystem growth and user satisfaction.
  • Partner with engineering, product, data science, and research teams to translate business goals into scalable technical solutions.
  • Align teams on goals, prioritization, outcomes, and timelines.
  • Mentor and influence junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 7 years of experience leading technical project strategy, ML design, and working with industry-scale ML infrastructure.
  • 5 years of experience with design and architecture and with testing and launching software products.
  • 5 years of experience building and deploying production recommendation system models, including retrieval, prediction, ranking, or embedding.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Preferred: 8 years of industry experience in AI/ML recommendations and the recommendations technology domain.
  • Preferred: 5 years of technical leadership experience directing project teams and setting technical direction.
  • Preferred: 5 years of experience with large-scale recommendation or search systems, reinforcement learning, ML infrastructure, or another ML specialization.

Benefits

  • US base salary of $262000 - $364000, plus a 25% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
