Responsibilities
- Architect and build core platform systems shared across Proton Mail and Proton Calendar.
- Improve production-system performance and infrastructure cost efficiency using monitoring and metrics.
- Drive efficiency and cost-reduction initiatives from proposal through production.
- Apply data-driven methods to technical decisions, delivery planning, and prioritization.
- Collaborate with product, backend, and client engineers on high-quality systems.
- Develop comprehensive unit and integration testing strategies for core systems.
- Lead technical initiatives end-to-end from design through production.
Requirements
- Strong backend development experience designing, building, and scaling systems serving a large user base of 100M+ users.
- Demonstrated ability to improve the performance and cost efficiency of production systems.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana and OpenTelemetry or equivalent.
- Solid understanding of SQL, with MySQL preferred, and data modeling.
- Experience leading technical initiatives from design through production.
