Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of highly available, resilient, cost-efficient distributed systems serving millions of users.
- Architect systems handling 1M+ requests per second with sub-50ms latency, 99.99% availability, and strong consistency for financial and pricing flows.
- Drive technical strategy for platform evolution, API design, and integration with new business lines and third-party partners.
- Build platform abstractions and developer tools that enable ML and Product teams to iterate rapidly.
- Lead architectural transitions toward dual-rail resiliency for mission-critical payment and pricing flows.
- Partner with Product, Data Science, and Ops leaders to translate commercial requirements into scalable platform solutions.
- Drive architecture reviews, reduce systemic technical debt, and improve observability and organization-wide incident response.
- Lead large-scale engineering projects through requirements, development, and global productionization.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional experience in backend development and large-scale distributed systems.
- Proven ability to lead organization-wide development and adoption of frameworks and coding best practices.
- Experience anticipating architectural problems or opportunities and addressing them with leadership before business impact.
- Track record of leading large-scale engineering projects through all lifecycle stages.
- Expertise defining standards for testing, monitoring, and alerting and overseeing complex incident management.
- Experience identifying architectural gaps and creating organization-wide frameworks that improve developer velocity and reduce technical debt.
- Demonstrated ability to build strategic relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners around a technical vision.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred: expert-level proficiency in Go, Java, or Python for real-time marketplace platforms requiring high consistency and global reliability.
- Preferred: experience building developer tools, SDKs, and abstractions using technologies such as Flink and Kafka.
- Preferred: proficiency with cloud-native infrastructure using GCP and Kubernetes at global scale.
- Preferred: ability to balance near-term execution with durable engineering artifacts that improve organizational reliability.
- Preferred: experience representing an organization to internal and external technical communities.
