Base Salary
$160k - $240k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end architecture, design, implementation, testing, and deployment across the applied AI portfolio while contributing to AI strategy and roadmap.
- Build safe tool layers with permissions, rollback, auditability, and advanced RAG layers grounded in real-time merchant data.
- Define behavioral contracts, develop evaluation harnesses, and engineer decision layers for trustworthy merchant recommendations.
- Develop multimodal ingestion pipelines for photos, PDFs, and spreadsheets with merchant review workflows where needed.
- Operate production systems through tracing, cost management, live quality monitoring, and rotational on-call support.
- Extend the shared multi-agent framework, contribute upstream, use agentic coding tools, mentor engineers, and establish reusable AI patterns and guardrails.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of professional software development experience, including 3+ years leading complex production systems through deployment.
- Strong foundations in algorithms, data structures, Kubernetes, REST APIs, and microservices.
- Fluency in Python and a JVM language such as Java, Kotlin, or Scala, plus experience with SQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and vector databases.
- Production ownership of action-oriented LLM systems that write to systems of record and serve real users.
- Hands-on experience with evaluation-driven development, behavioral contracts, eval-gated releases, tracing, rate limits, latency and cost budgets, and live monitoring.
- Strong judgment regarding blast radius, prompt injection, security, and privacy when AI systems write to persistent databases.
- Demonstrated agentic coding workflow fluency, product judgment, analytical problem-solving, and cross-team influence.
- Preferred qualifications include production experience with Gemini, Vertex AI, Claude, GPT, or Llama; multi-agent orchestration and MCP; structured-record RAG; Document AI; Spring Boot; LangChain; LlamaIndex; BDD/TDD; POS, restaurant, or retail domain knowledge; and a master’s degree in a related technical discipline.
