Responsibilities
- Define, develop, verify, optimize, and support embedded firmware for low-power mixed-signal circuits and sensing SoCs.
- Design firmware functions and systems from specification through production support, including rule-based and ML-based inference firmware.
- Define and implement pre-silicon simulation, unit and regression testing, debugging, emulation, and FPGA prototyping.
- Specify system-level and hardware-firmware architectures, CPU or microcontroller selection, and ROM/RAM sizing.
- Implement testability and diagnostic features and define test methodologies for hardware testing.
- Support silicon lab evaluation, performance characterization, post-silicon debugging, customer technical support, RMA analysis, and field issue resolution.
- Collaborate with application, system, digital hardware, analog, verification, test, product, and cross-functional teams.
- Generate technical documentation, drive design reviews, and mentor or supervise junior engineers.
Requirements
- 8–10 years of industry experience in embedded firmware for mixed-signal integrated circuits.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- In-depth experience with mixed-signal IC firmware, hardware-software architectures, real-time embedded systems, signal processing, algorithms, and power, speed, memory, and hardware-resource tradeoffs.
- Strong background with MCU-based systems, ARM, RISC-V, PIC, STM32, architecture, and instruction sets.
- Proficiency in C/C++, assembly language, Python, debugging, embedded software IDEs, AI coding tools, and evaluation of AI-generated code.
- Experience with bare-metal firmware, design for test, testability and diagnostic features, version control, release management, integration, unit testing, and regression testing.
- Experience with I2C, I3C, SPI, MIPI, JTAG, and PCIe hardware protocols.
- Hands-on experience with development boards, FPGAs, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, and associated measurement methods.
- Demonstrated technical leadership, innovation, analytical and problem-solving ability, communication skills, and follow-through.
- Knowledge of system-level signal processing, mixed-signal and digital hardware, analog systems, modeling, testing, and applications.
- Preferred experience with system or digital design methods and tools, Matlab, SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL, and consumer, industrial, or automotive circuit development.
