Base Salary
$130k - $150k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, maintain, and troubleshoot distributed services and customer-facing trading applications.
- Work primarily in Ruby while contributing across Java, JavaScript, and other parts of the technology stack.
- Translate requirements and technical direction into production-quality code with lightweight guidance.
- Write comprehensive tests and participate meaningfully in peer code reviews.
- Provide technical guidance to more junior engineers on language and implementation questions.
- Work independently on smaller tasks and contribute to larger projects under senior engineering guidance.
- Perform light infrastructure work supporting application development.
- Continue learning new systems and work toward ownership of tastytrade systems.
Requirements
- Demonstrable professional experience working as a software engineer on a team.
- At least two years of professional Ruby experience, or equivalent experience in another object-oriented language such as Java with a commitment to work and interview in Ruby.
- Mastery of at least one relevant language or framework in a production environment.
- Experience building or operating distributed systems.
- Ability and willingness to learn new languages, frameworks, and technologies.
- Experience with Grape is preferred.
- Experience writing Ruby outside of Rails is preferred.
- Front-end experience, ideally with Svelte, and exposure to micro-frontend architectures are preferred.
- Working knowledge of application security and secure coding practices is preferred.
