Base Salary
$130k - $150k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, maintain, and troubleshoot services in a distributed architecture with attention to failure modes, latency, and data consistency.
- Modify existing systems, take ownership of current systems, and contribute to greenfield projects.
- Work across multiple languages and parts of the tastytrade stack, including front-end trading client applications.
- Translate requirements and technical direction into production-quality code with lightweight guidance.
- Write comprehensive tests and contribute to the peer review process.
- Provide guidance to junior team members on language and implementation questions.
- Perform light infrastructure work supporting application development.
- Learn new systems and work toward ownership of tastytrade systems.
Requirements
- Demonstrable professional experience working as a software engineer on a team.
- At least two years of professional Ruby experience, or equivalent experience in another object-oriented language such as Java with a commitment to work primarily in Ruby.
- Mastery of at least one relevant language or framework in a production environment.
- Experience building or operating distributed systems.
- Comfort coding in Ruby for the technical interview.
- Ability and willingness to learn new languages, frameworks, and technologies.
- Experience with Grape is preferred.
- Experience writing Ruby outside of Rails is preferred.
- Front-end experience, ideally with Svelte, and exposure to micro-frontend architectures are preferred.
- A working grasp of application security and secure coding practices is preferred.
