Responsibilities
- Own and evolve backend APIs, use-case layers, domain models, serialization, and Kafka-based event-driven pipelines.
- Design and implement architectural scaffolds, product modules, interfaces, and contracts across the wider system landscape.
- Build and maintain Kubernetes deployments, CI/CD pipelines, and AWS cloud resources using infrastructure as code.
- Integrate mathematical optimization algorithms developed by Operations Research Engineers into the product.
- Build AI capabilities that combine LLMs with the optimization engine.
- Use code agents and AI assistants as part of the daily software development workflow.
- Contribute to architecture decisions, code reviews, testing, continuous improvement, and clean hexagonal architecture practices.
- Mentor colleagues and promote knowledge sharing and learning.
Requirements
- Academic background in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of backend software engineering experience with Python.
- Experience with a modern front-end stack and willingness to perform basic front-end work.
- Production experience with clean architecture principles such as hexagonal architecture, ports-and-adapters, or Domain-Driven Design.
- Experience with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL, and event-driven systems such as Kafka.
- Strong experience using code agents or AI assistants in daily development.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with unit, integration, and acceptance testing practices.
- Experience with AWS or a similar cloud platform and Terraform or comparable infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Familiarity with mathematical optimization or data-intensive applications is a plus.
