Responsibilities
- Design and implement backend microservices using clean architecture and clear separation of concerns.
- Build and maintain REST and/or GraphQL APIs with consistent data contracts and request and response models.
- Implement event-driven integrations using message queues, webhooks, retry logic, and error handling.
- Design data models and persistence logic for NoSQL and relational databases.
- Implement JWT authentication and authorization with identity providers.
- Write and maintain unit, integration, and BDD-style automated tests.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for cloud deployment, including containerized services on managed platforms.
- Participate in code reviews, uphold engineering standards, and mentor less experienced developers.
- Collaborate with architects, QA, and developers to resolve integration gaps and deliver cross-service features.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience building backend services.
- Experience with C#/.NET, Java, or another modern object-oriented or statically typed language.
- Experience designing and building microservices and REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
- Understanding of clean architecture or similar layered design patterns.
- Experience with NoSQL and/or relational databases, data modeling, and query optimization.
- Practical experience with event-driven architectures and message queues such as AWS SQS/SNS or equivalent services.
- Experience writing automated tests and integrating them into CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience working pragmatically in agile teams under sprint deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to flag blockers, gaps, and risks.
- Experience with disciplined AI-assisted software development practices, specification-driven development, TDD, and iterative refactoring.
- Ability to mentor engineers in using AI coding tools within structured workflows.
- Preferred experience with ASP.NET Core, MediatR/CQRS, xUnit, Reqnroll/BDD, FluentValidation, AWS ECS, Docker, Keycloak, Azure AD, webhooks, e-commerce, order management, or transactional domains.
