Base Salary
$200k - $325k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the technical architecture and build foundational abstractions and interfaces for core systems.
- Build reliable integrations with external clinical data systems, including EHRs, CTMS, eSource, and laboratories.
- Develop and evolve infrastructure for model training and predictive capabilities, including ingestion, feature engineering, and serving.
- Prototype quickly to test and derisk ideas.
- Evaluate technologies, make build-versus-buy decisions, select vendors, and shape long-term infrastructure strategy.
- Make technical tradeoffs between speed, durability, generality, and delivery.
- Partner with product, clinical operations, and data science teams to solve business-relevant problems.
- Help shape engineering culture, technical decision-making, and engineering rigor through code reviews and architecture guidance.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience designing and building systems.
- Experience with healthcare data systems such as HL7, FHIR, and EHR/EMR integrations, or other highly regulated data environments.
- 2+ years of experience working in a high-growth startup environment.
- Deep experience integrating unreliable or heterogeneous external data sources.
- Experience using AI tooling and frameworks in an engineering workflow.
- Experience building production data pipelines and infrastructure for analytical or ML workloads.
- Strong backend experience with Python, SQL, and cloud infrastructure.
- Experience building systems from early stages and making foundational technical decisions.
- Experience with ML training infrastructure or feature platforms is preferred.
- Familiarity with clinical operations, systems, or life sciences data is preferred.
- Experience incorporating SOC 2, HIPAA, or similar compliance requirements into engineering practice is preferred.
- Track record of building systems that operate correctly under real-world operational constraints, scale, and complexity is preferred.
