Responsibilities
- Lead complex integration and application initiatives across Workday, Gem, BrightHire, ServiceNow, AD/Okta, payroll and benefits vendors, and internal platforms.
- Build integrations, services, and applications using Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, REST, SOAP, and GraphQL APIs.
- Architect Workday Extend applications, including custom objects, validations, and orchestration-backed workflows.
- Design and own MCP servers and connectors exposing Workday capabilities to AI agents and internal tooling.
- Establish team standards for AI-assisted IDEs and coding agents, including Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot.
- Set observability standards through dashboards, metrics, alerts, and runbooks, and resolve high-severity production incidents.
- Coordinate project deliverables, write designs, estimate work, review artifacts, and document technical tradeoffs.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to team architecture, quality, resiliency, testability, and platform reliability.
Requirements
- 5-8+ years of software or application engineering experience, including significant experience with platform or enterprise systems.
- 4+ years of hands-on Workday development across Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Extend, Orchestration, and RaaS/WQL.
- 3+ years of production coding experience in JavaScript, Java, Python, or Go, with strong SQL or equivalent querying experience.
- Strong experience with REST, SOAP, GraphQL, XML, XSLT, JSON, and data transformation patterns.
- Experience owning integration architecture, including event-driven patterns, API gateway patterns, and fault-tolerant design.
- Deep understanding of the Workday data model and security fundamentals, including domains, segments, and business processes.
- Experience using AI-assisted development as a standard part of the daily workflow.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience designing MCP servers or API-layer connectors for AI tooling.
- Experience with an iPaaS platform such as MuleSoft or Workato is preferred.
- Workday Integration or Extend certification is preferred.
