Responsibilities
- Design service boundaries and evaluate microservice versus modular-monolith trade-offs.
- Lead event-driven architecture decisions, including schema evolution, compatibility, dead-letter handling and idempotency.
- Document architecture decisions and balance long-term maintainability with pragmatic delivery.
- Own query optimization, caching strategy, connection-pool tuning and JVM performance basics.
- Design Helm charts and GitOps deployment pipelines using ArgoCD, including resource planning and HPA considerations.
- Drive static analysis, contract testing, mutation testing and team-wide test-pyramid strategy.
- Design observability with SLOs, SLIs, structured logging, distributed tracing and cost-aware alerting.
- Apply resilience patterns such as circuit breakers, bulkheads and rate limiting.
- Address threat modeling, dependency vulnerabilities, least-privilege service accounts and zero-trust service-to-service authentication.
- Lead incident response, root-cause analysis, blameless postmortems and remediation follow-through.
- Mentor junior and mid-level developers through pairing and code reviews.
- Evaluate the appropriate use and risks of AI-assisted code review, testing and documentation tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Information Science or Software Engineering.
- 8+ years of experience with demonstrable ownership of non-trivial systems.
- Strong Java experience, including modern Java language features and Java 11–25.
- Experience with Spring Boot and Spring Framework, and comfort operating across Spring Boot and Quarkus.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, Kafka, Elasticsearch and Redis.
- Experience designing REST, gRPC and GraphQL APIs.
- Understanding of microservices, event-driven architecture, eventual consistency and outbox patterns.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm and GitOps deployment using ArgoCD.
- Experience with JUnit 5, Mockito, Testcontainers, Pact, SonarQube and Checkstyle.
- Knowledge of OpenTelemetry, Jaeger, resilience patterns, OAuth2/OIDC, secure coding and vulnerability management.
- Preferred collaboration and communication skills with stakeholders.
