Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain AWS serverless microservices using Lambda, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, Step Functions, API Gateway, and EventBridge.
  • Develop and maintain shared TypeScript libraries for configuration management, observability, HTTP clients, and schema contracts.
  • Author and maintain infrastructure as code using AWS SAM and CloudFormation.
  • Implement event-driven integration patterns connecting product domains across the platform.
  • Write unit and integration tests using Vitest and use LocalStack for local AWS service emulation.
  • Participate in architecture reviews and design discussions for breaking changes.
  • Manage package versioning and releases through Changesets and GitHub Packages.
  • Collaborate with QA, Product, and DevOps teams within Agile development cycles.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of professional TypeScript/Node.js development experience.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS serverless services, including Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, API Gateway, and Step Functions.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code using AWS SAM or CloudFormation.
  • Understanding of event-driven and integration-centric architecture patterns.
  • Experience with monorepos using pnpm workspaces or similar tooling such as Nx or Turborepo.
  • Familiarity with semantic versioning, Changesets, and package publishing workflows.
  • Familiarity with observability tooling, including structured logging, distributed tracing, and metrics; AWS Powertools is a plus.
  • Experience writing tests with Vitest, Jest, or similar tools and using LocalStack for local cloud emulation.
  • Familiarity with JSON Schema, runtime validation libraries such as Zod or AJV, or schema registry patterns.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Preferred experience with government, justice, or public safety software platforms.
  • Familiarity with AWS Cognito and IAM-based authentication patterns.
  • Exposure to data transformation and mapping systems such as JSONata or JSONPath.
  • Comfort working with Golang.
