Responsibilities
- Define the strategic roadmap for enterprise database platforms and lead modernization and cloud transformation initiatives.
- Establish architecture standards, governance practices, technology guidelines, reference architectures, design patterns, and platform selection criteria.
- Design highly available, secure, scalable, cloud-native, hybrid, and on-premises database solutions.
- Drive automation, operational excellence, performance optimization, availability, resilience, and scalability across database services.
- Define database security, encryption, compliance, audit, retention, disaster recovery, backup, and resilience standards.
- Review and approve database designs, Architecture Decision Records, and solution architecture proposals through governance processes.
- Collaborate with Application, Infrastructure, Security, Governance, and Data Engineering teams.
- Provide mentorship and technical leadership across database engineering functions.
- Evaluate emerging database technologies and recommend strategic investments.
Requirements
- 8–10 years of experience in database engineering, database architecture, or platform engineering roles.
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Neo4j, or similar enterprise database platforms.
- Experience designing cloud database solutions within Azure and/or AWS.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, performance optimization, scalability, and database security.
- Experience with automation and scripting tools such as Python or PowerShell.
- Knowledge of disaster recovery, backup strategies, and business continuity planning.
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise database environments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Preferred qualifications include Azure, AWS, Oracle, Microsoft, MongoDB, or PostgreSQL certifications; experience leading enterprise cloud migration programs; and familiarity with DataOps, DevOps, Infrastructure-as-Code, and platform engineering practices.
