Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end technical direction for Session Replay across frontend, backend, and data systems.
- Evolve backend architecture using columnar and analytical storage for large-scale session data.
- Define data models, ingestion pipelines, and query patterns.
- Design investigation workflows connecting replay with logs, metrics, traces, and other Grafana Cloud telemetry.
- Make architectural decisions affecting multiple teams and products.
- Partner with Frontend Observability, Synthetic Monitoring, and Core Grafana teams on cross-product experiences.
- Join customer calls, gather structured feedback, and help customers instrument and adopt Session Replay.
- Improve engineering standards, patterns, and operational practices.
- Mentor engineers and develop technical leadership within the team.
Requirements
- Reason effectively about data-intensive systems, including ingestion, storage, querying, and cost trade-offs.
- Own features in ambiguous problem spaces and work independently in a remote-first environment.
- Communicate design decisions clearly in written and spoken English.
- Collaborate constructively and work by consensus.
- Use a user-centered software development process to understand user context and goals.
- Value maintainable, readable, and automated code and enjoy working on complex technical systems.
- Use AI tools thoughtfully as part of the engineering workflow.
