Base Salary
$154k - $185k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end technical direction for Session Replay across frontend, backend, and data systems.
- Design backend systems using columnar and analytical storage for large-scale session data.
- Define data models, ingestion pipelines, and query patterns.
- Lead investigation workflows connecting replay with logs, metrics, traces, and other telemetry.
- Make architectural decisions affecting multiple teams and products.
- Collaborate with Frontend Observability, Synthetic Monitoring, and Core Grafana teams.
- Engage directly with customers to gather feedback and support instrumentation and adoption.
- Improve engineering standards, patterns, and operational practices.
- Mentor engineers and help develop technical leadership.
Requirements
- Senior-level experience building software and reasoning about data-intensive systems involving ingestion, storage, querying, and cost trade-offs.
- Experience owning features and making technical decisions in ambiguous problem spaces.
- Ability to communicate design decisions clearly in written and spoken English in a remote-first environment.
- User-centered software development mindset and ability to understand user context and goals.
- Strong focus on maintainable, readable, automated software and complex technical solutions.
- Comfort using AI tools thoughtfully in engineering workflows.
- Preferred experience with columnar or analytical databases, observability tools, debugging or developer-focused tools, privacy and access control in data-heavy systems, or performance-sensitive systems involving large datasets, real-time queries, or session data.
