Responsibilities
- Design and develop performance-optimized ABAP solutions for SAP HANA using database pushdown and efficient data access patterns.
- Build CDS views, associations, annotations, authorization-aware data models, and reusable semantic artifacts for transactional, analytical, UI, integration, and AI retrieval use cases.
- Implement performance-critical logic with AMDP and SQLScript, including query-plan-driven tuning and benchmarking.
- Develop modular ABAP services and APIs using clean architecture, OData/service exposure patterns, versioning, and contract-first design.
- Build AI-enabled SAP capabilities with LLM integration, tool-calling orchestration, retrieval-grounded outputs, deterministic fallbacks, prompts, tool schemas, and context assembly.
- Create automated unit, integration, and contract tests plus AI evaluation harnesses using golden datasets, scenario tests, and monitoring.
- Implement AI guardrails including authorization-aware filtering, redaction, action confirmations, and audit logging.
- Instrument services with logs, metrics, and traces; implement retries, idempotency, correlation IDs, safe failure modes, runbooks, and structured diagnostics.
- Integrate SAP services with SAP and non-SAP ecosystems, cloud runtimes, API gateways, and enterprise integration layers.
- Collaborate with UX, integration, data, and platform teams to deliver secure, compliant, scalable production solutions.
Requirements
- At least 7.5 years of professional experience.
- 15 years of full-time education.
- Strong hands-on expertise in ABAP development on SAP HANA, including performance tuning, pushdown, and efficient SQL access patterns.
- Proficiency with CDS views, associations, annotations, authorization concepts, and modern data modeling.
- Experience with AMDP and SQLScript for controlled code pushdown and performance-critical scenarios.
- Strong software engineering discipline involving clean design, testing, and production readiness.
- Ability to build AI-native capabilities involving LLM integration, retrieval grounding, tool orchestration, evaluation loops, and safety boundaries.
- Experience with OData or service design patterns, API lifecycle management, and contract-first development is beneficial.
- Experience integrating SAP backends with cloud runtimes and enterprise integration platforms is beneficial.
- Familiarity with performance benchmarking, load testing, query-plan tuning, SAP security, authorizations, and compliance requirements is beneficial.
