Responsibilities
- Develop bare-metal firmware for an STM32H7-based thermal control platform.
- Implement simultaneous temperature acquisition from I2C and RTDs.
- Develop, implement, and tune multiple independent PID-based control loops.
- Support hardware bring-up, integration, validation, and prototype testing.
- Debug ADCs, I2C, PWM, Ethernet, and GPIO interfaces.
- Troubleshoot board-level and system-level issues with hardware engineers.
- Perform system testing, performance characterization, firmware optimization, and technical documentation.
- Deliver production-ready thermal control firmware supporting multiple independent channels, at least 50 Mbps Ethernet throughput, fault detection, recovery, and long-term maintainability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related field with 7+ years of embedded firmware development experience, or a master’s degree with 4+ years of experience.
- Experience developing and tuning temperature control, power control, or other real-time feedback control systems.
- Strong C programming skills and extensive STM32H7 development experience.
- Experience implementing PID or other closed-loop control algorithms.
- Experience with hardware bring-up, prototype validation, and schematic review.
- Proficiency with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and digital multimeters for firmware and hardware integration troubleshooting.
Benefits
- Three-month full-time contractor position with potential extension.
- On-site in San Diego, California, with a minimum of 32 hours per week.
- Estimated base pay of $75-$85 per hour, depending on qualifications and other job-related factors.
