Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, high-performance object-oriented backend services.
- Build public REST APIs with Java and internal gRPC APIs for inter-service and inter-system communication.
- Lead system designs, technical decisions, cross-team projects, and engineering alignment.
- Develop unit, integration, end-to-end, concurrency, load, and performance tests.
- Identify bottlenecks and technical debt, and implement scalability, stability, monitoring, healing, and deployment improvements.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define and deliver features.
- Conduct code reviews, mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and promote engineering best practices.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and provide live-site support.
- Evaluate competing technologies and maintain design, runbook, change management, and readiness documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
- 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and problem-solving.
- Expertise designing and developing internet-scale services with scalability, availability, security, and reliability considerations.
- Backend development proficiency with Java or C#, SpringBoot, RESTful APIs, the ODATA framework, and SQL.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative, empathetic mindset.
- Preferred: master’s degree in computer science or software engineering and 8 years of software engineering experience.
- Preferred: experience with event-driven architecture, Kafka, card payments, Docker, Kubernetes, API security, and PCI DSS compliance.
- Preferred: familiarity with iOS or Android development and experience deploying AI solutions, agents, copilots, multi-agent systems, vector databases, and responsible AI evaluation and safety practices.
