Responsibilities
- Own and evolve end-to-end mobile test strategy for iOS and Android, including offline and poor-network behavior, lifecycle transitions, audio, permissions, gestures, and device fragmentation.
- Architect and maintain Appium-based mobile automation frameworks for real-device and cloud-device grids.
- Drive mobile performance, battery, memory, stress, and release-readiness testing across representative device matrices.
- Investigate complex cross-platform issues involving native or hybrid layers, networks, and audio pipelines and drive them to root cause.
- Extend automation across web, service, and backend layers, including REST, gRPC, GraphQL, bidirectional streaming, protocol buffers, Kafka-based flows, and microservices.
- Contribute to backend performance and load testing using K6, Locust, or similar tools.
- Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines with meaningful reporting and flake management.
- Lead test automation design and code reviews, prioritize framework maintenance and technical debt, and document evolving test architecture.
- Break complex work into components for early-career engineers, mentor them, participate in SDET hiring, and prioritize cross-team automation initiatives.
- Lead initiatives applying LLMs and agentic AI to test generation, triage, self-healing locators, and coverage analysis.
Requirements
- 7+ years of SDET or equivalent experience, including substantial mobile test automation and QA process ownership.
- Deep expertise with Appium or equivalent, real-device and cloud-device execution, and mobile debugging tools.
- Working knowledge of Swift, Kotlin, and Java, with proficiency in at least one object-oriented language and comfort with Python.
- Experience owning web UI automation using Playwright, Selenium, or similar tools and service-level automation for REST, gRPC, or GraphQL APIs.
- Understanding of microservices, cloud platforms, containers, and CI/CD systems such as Buildkite or Jenkins.
- Track record of mentoring engineers and leading automation projects to completion.
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Science, AI/ML, or a related engineering field; an MS/PhD is a plus.
- Experience with AI/ML quality engineering, model evaluation, evaluation harnesses, agentic AI tooling, accessibility testing, localisation testing, or startup environments is preferred.
