Base Salary
$143k - $215k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and iterate on LLM-powered agents that coordinate across engineering disciplines, surface project risks, and generate proposals, statements of work, and status reports.
- Own and evolve the agent orchestration layer, currently LangChain DeepAgent, by evaluating whether to extend, replace, or supplement it.
- Implement tool-use patterns connecting agents to project management tools, CAD/PLM platforms, communication channels, and other external systems.
- Design and tune prompts, chains, and retrieval strategies for reliable and useful agent behavior across hardware project contexts.
- Build evaluation and observability infrastructure covering tracing, cost tracking, latency monitoring, and automated quality benchmarks.
- Develop streaming agent interfaces that provide real-time progress, reasoning transparency, and proactive alerts.
- Track advances in LLMs, agent frameworks, and related tooling and turn them into practical recommendations.
- Collaborate with frontend engineers on AI feature UX and backend engineers on data pipelines and API design.
- Contribute to AI architecture decisions, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
Requirements
- At least five years of production software engineering experience, including at least two years bringing LLM-based applications or agent systems to market.
- Proficiency with Python in production environments and experience building and deploying agentic systems with frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, or custom orchestration.
- Strong understanding of prompt engineering, function and tool calling, retrieval-augmented generation, context-window management, and token economics.
- Experience integrating LLM-powered features with external APIs, databases, and third-party tools.
- Experience designing and operating background-job or asynchronous task pipelines using Celery, RQ, Temporal, or similar systems.
- Experience building multi-agent systems with planning, delegation, and inter-agent communication patterns.
- Demonstrated use of AI coding tools such as Cursor, Copilot, and Claude, plus the ability to evaluate and adopt new AI tools and frameworks quickly.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, including clean architecture, testing, version control, code review, and production reliability.
- Experience with LangChain DeepAgent or LangGraph, LLM evaluation frameworks, vector databases and embedding pipelines, model serving or fine-tuning, and model selection or routing is highly valuable.
- Understanding of OIDC, JWT, and secure user-data handling in LLM contexts is highly valuable.
- Experience with B2B SaaS, project management or technical collaboration products, hardware development workflows, or project management concepts is highly valuable.
- TypeScript and React fluency sufficient to collaborate with frontend engineers on streaming agent interfaces is highly valuable.
- U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency is required due to exposure to export-controlled information.
