Responsibilities

  • Lead broad-impact systems operations initiatives and provide high-level systems consultation.
  • Plan and evaluate computer systems and network infrastructure for the Systems Operations function.
  • Analyze complex technical challenges and escalated support issues involving core business solutions.
  • Define and validate non-functional requirements for payment modernization platforms.
  • Lead capacity and performance testing for high-volume and peak payment events.
  • Ensure robust replay, retry, exception handling, observability, SLOs, error budgets, runbooks, on-call readiness, and escalation paths.
  • Own permit-to-operate readiness, cutover, and early life support models.
  • Drive chaos engineering, blameless root-cause analyses, defect-pattern analysis, and continuous service improvement.
  • Consult with engineering teams on technical changes, enhancements, process controls, and standards.
  • Collaborate with technical peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve systems support issues and achieve goals.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture experience, or equivalent experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • 3+ years of application support experience.
  • 3+ years of platform experience with Kubernetes or container orchestration.
  • Desired experience includes 2+ years with progressive delivery, automated rollback, reliability-as-code, and CI/CD automation.
  • Desired experience includes Spring Boot, Spring WebFlux, MongoDB, Redis, Resilience4J, BlazeMeter, and Chaos Monkey.
  • Strong experience in SRE, Production Engineering, Platform Engineering, or Service Transition in a complex technology or financial-services environment.
  • Experience productionizing new platforms and working with event-driven, distributed architectures.
  • Understanding of high-value payment systems including Wires, RTP, SWIFT, CHIPS, and FedNow.
  • Ability to operate in early-stage, ambiguous transformation environments.
