Responsibilities

  • Lead reliability initiatives across critical business platforms and customer journeys, including SLO, SLI, and error budget practices.
  • Improve platform resilience through automation, self-healing, capacity planning, fault-tolerant design, and removal of single points of failure.
  • Provide technical leadership during major production incidents and drive incident recovery, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Develop incident playbooks, recovery procedures, operational readiness standards, monitoring strategies, dashboards, and reliability reporting.
  • Lead observability initiatives covering telemetry, logging, tracing, alerting, synthetic monitoring, and customer journey monitoring.
  • Design self-service operational capabilities and automated recovery solutions while promoting Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD, and platform engineering practices.
  • Partner with internal teams, external vendors, and service providers on reliability, support responsiveness, recovery performance, and third-party operational readiness.
  • Mentor SREs, Systems Operations Engineers, and Platform Support Engineers and lead technical reviews and production support governance activities.
  • Influence architecture decisions to improve supportability, resiliency, observability, and operational sustainability.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of Systems Engineering or Technology Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • At least 5 years of Site Reliability Engineering, Platform Engineering, Production Support, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years supporting mission-critical production applications in large enterprise environments.
  • At least 3 years leading major incident management, operational support, or reliability engineering initiatives.
  • At least 3 years of experience with observability and monitoring platforms such as Splunk, Grafana, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, GCP Monitoring, or similar technologies.
  • At least 2 years driving automation, operational improvements, and reliability initiatives.
  • At least 3 years supporting distributed systems, cloud-based platforms, infrastructure, networking, and application architectures.
  • At least 1 year supporting highly regulated or customer-facing financial services platforms.
  • Preferred qualifications include Consumer Technology, credit card, payments, lending, or digital banking experience; SRE principles; SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets; DevOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code, and cloud-native architectures; AI-assisted engineering; incident management automation; observability platforms; executive communication; stakeholder management; cross-functional technical leadership; and vendor governance experience.
