Base Salary
$207k - $275k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the design, development, and long-term health of network automation platforms and services.
- Build software for configuration generation, device provisioning, workflow automation, observability, internal CLIs, and APIs.
- Plan complex projects, sequence dependencies, and keep multiple efforts moving in parallel.
- Set technical direction through RFCs, design reviews, architecture decisions, and decomposition of ambiguous problems.
- Write well-tested and documented production software in Python and Go.
- Improve reliability and operability by defining service-level indicators and objectives and reducing manual toil through automation.
- Collaborate with Network Engineering, Observability, Fleet Engineering, and HPC teams.
- Join the on-call rotation after ramp-up and lead calm, blameless incident follow-up.
- Mentor engineers and review code and technical designs.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience, ideally building and operating production infrastructure, platform, or backend systems at scale.
- Strong proficiency in Python and Go.
- Experience with CI/CD practices, including testing, code review, and maintaining continuous builds and deployments.
- Strong understanding of enterprise runtime health management for services and applications.
- Hands-on experience with workflow automation or orchestration and automated device provisioning at scale, such as Zero Touch Provisioning.
- Strong multi-month planning and project execution skills across concurrent efforts.
- Solid networking fundamentals, including IP addressing and subnetting, routing and switching, NTP, and DNS.
- Comfort with Linux and Kubernetes.
- Experience with Ansible, Jinja, NetBox or comparable source-of-truth/IPAM/DCIM systems, and Prometheus and Grafana or comparable observability tooling.
- Strong written communication, documentation, mentoring, and cross-team collaboration skills.
- A degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
