Responsibilities
- Build and own the integration between Seqera Intelligent Compute and the Seqera Platform.
- Enable customers to configure and run compute environments across AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, HPC schedulers, and GPU-enabled executions.
- Build cloud-provider integrations using APIs and SDKs while handling partial failures, quotas, permissions, and provider-specific behavior.
- Own usage metering, invoice reconciliation, billing, pay-as-you-go flows, and free-user onboarding.
- Design consistent data models and APIs across services and releases.
- Translate provider and scheduler failures into actionable user-facing errors and improve testing and observability.
- Collaborate with platform, product, infrastructure, and support teams, including customer escalations.
- Make architectural decisions within scope and document systems for maintainability.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience building and operating production backend services, including ownership of at least one service.
- Strong Java and/or Groovy skills with Micronaut, Spring Boot, or a similar framework.
- Hands-on experience using a major cloud provider’s APIs to provision and manage resources programmatically.
- Experience running workloads on Kubernetes.
- Experience designing REST APIs and data models and maintaining integrations across versions and failures.
- Accountability for a customer-facing production system.
- Careful approach to correctness and data integrity, ideally with billing or metering experience.
- Ability to independently drive work through ambiguity, investigate undocumented systems, and communicate early when blocked.
- Openness to using AI extensively in engineering work.
- Preferred experience includes two or more cloud providers, HPC or batch schedulers, GPU workloads, usage-based billing, Metronome, Stripe, self-serve product flows, bioinformatics, Nextflow, scientific computing, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, CI/CD ownership, Angular, or open-source contributions.
