Machine Learning Engineer – Document Digitization (LLMs)-Vice President

Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and integration of AI-powered document digitization solutions.
- Manage the full AI/ML lifecycle, including model training, validation, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Build production LLM and generative AI solutions for document understanding, workflow automation, and information extraction.
- Develop scalable document digitization pipelines using Python, AI frameworks, and cloud technologies.
- Provision and manage AWS resources with Terraform, including SageMaker and Bedrock services.
- Ensure the scalability, reliability, security, compliance, and governance of AI/ML solutions.
- Create dashboards and reporting tools to monitor digitization accuracy, workflow efficiency, and business impact.
- Conduct model validation and human-in-the-loop reviews to improve digitization accuracy.
- Mentor junior engineers, lead design and code reviews, and promote engineering and testing best practices.
- Explore agentic coding, autonomous or assisted code agents, orchestration patterns, and tool-use frameworks for document workflows.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field, with relevant industry experience.
- Strong Python proficiency for production AI services and data or document pipelines.
- Strong Java experience, including APIs and microservices built with Spring Boot.
- Production experience delivering LLM-powered or generative AI applications, including evaluation, observability, guardrails, and continuous improvement.
- Experience with MLOps or LLMOps practices, automated testing, deployment strategies, monitoring, and incident response.
- Working knowledge of TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, and PyTorch Lightning, with emphasis on integrating models into scalable systems.
- Experience with AWS, SageMaker or Bedrock, Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, and Terraform.
- Familiarity with Mongo Atlas, Elasticsearch or OpenSearch, and Neo4j for document search and knowledge retrieval.
- Experience with agentic AI frameworks, prompt optimization, evaluation harnesses, and fine-tuning or parameter-efficient tuning of smaller language models.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle, resiliency, security, testing, code quality, governance, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Preferred experience in financial services, investment banking, or credit risk operations.
- Preferred familiarity with distributed computing, data sharing, and distributed data-parallel training.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical reviews, mentor teams, and accelerate development with AI technologies while maintaining engineering rigor.
