Responsibilities
- Lead performance architecture and test execution for existing and new products.
- Design, optimize, and maintain performance tests, reusable frameworks, workload models, and execution standards using JMeter, Gatling, Taurus, or similar tools.
- Execute and oversee performance, load, and benchmark testing during release cycles, including analysis, reporting, and stakeholder communication.
- Publish performance reports and communicate findings to DevOps and development teams for triage and resolution.
- Lead root-cause investigations of performance issues and turn findings into prioritized product and test improvements.
- Analyze and optimize Java, JVM, SQL, NoSQL, application, and infrastructure performance.
- Coach and mentor engineers on code quality, testing, test architecture, and robust technical designs.
- Support backlog prioritization, requirements translation, stakeholder feedback, team activities, and hiring decisions for performance engineering.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in STEM or equivalent practical experience.
- 12–16+ years of relevant software performance engineering experience with technical leadership, mentorship, and cross-team influence.
- Expert-level experience with performance engineering strategy, execution, load testing tools, and complex performance test frameworks.
- Expert knowledge of SQL, database performance tuning, query analysis, locking, transactions, indexing, and execution plans.
- Expert knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database concepts and technology trade-offs.
- Advanced Java code comprehension and JVM fundamentals, including memory leaks, garbage collection, heap dumps, profiling, and JVM tuning.
- Experience with BlazeMeter or a similar test execution and orchestration platform.
- Experience with Appium and Selenium for UI performance testing.
- Advanced hands-on experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Elastic, Splunk, or Datadog, including log queries and performance analysis.
- Experience with Linux, Jira, Git, GitHub, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, IntelliJ or Eclipse, and SSMS.
- Intermediate Azure experience and solid Kubernetes and Docker knowledge, including operational and cost implications at scale.
- Preferred qualifications include warehouse management or supply chain domain knowledge, open-source contributions, and conference presentations or published performance-engineering articles.
