Base Salary
$213k - $263k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-throughput distributed backend components and services for the Commercialization Data Lake.
- Build scalable ingestion pipelines for raw system telemetry and RPC logs, processing petabytes of data into daily canonical base tables.
- Develop standardized Data Pipeline Services, templates, and self-service gateways for downstream consumers.
- Implement compliance, privacy, security, access-control, and identity infrastructure, including GDPR wipeout, ACL management, BCID enforcement, and identity proxies.
- Establish regression testing, staging, canary/progressive rollout, and operational standards to protect pipeline reliability and SLOs.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers and Product Data Scientists on platform consistency, dependency tracing, and DAG architecture guidelines.
Requirements
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
- 4+ years of professional backend software engineering experience focused on distributed systems, databases, and production monitoring.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
- Advanced proficiency in C++ and SQL for high-throughput batch and streaming pipelines.
- Experience operating data pipelines with hardened release processes, including canarying, staging environments, and automated rollbacks.
- Preferred experience with distributed processing frameworks such as Spark, Flink, Beam, Hadoop, or Flume.
- Preferred experience building and maintaining data warehouse or data lake systems.
- Preferred experience embedding data governance, privacy, or compliance capabilities such as encryption, GDPR, and RBAC/ACLs into infrastructure.
- Preferred proficiency with Google-internal pipeline and data stacks including Flume, SQLP, Rapid, CAS, and F1.
