Base Salary
$115k - $194k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, test, and ship backend features and improvements with minimal guidance.
- Build and maintain APIs, background jobs, integrations, data models, migrations, indexes, and bounded service functionality.
- Write maintainable, secure, observable, and performant production code.
- Add and improve unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end automated test coverage.
- Review code for correctness, maintainability, security, performance, and operational risk.
- Investigate build, test, deployment, and runtime failures and propose practical technical improvements.
- Participate in on-call or operational support when required by the team’s ownership model.
- Use AI coding tools productively, validate generated output, and correct it when necessary.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Frontend, Infrastructure, Security, product managers, and designers in a remote asynchronous environment.
Requirements
- Professional experience building and shipping production backend applications.
- Strong programming, API, database, testing, debugging, and performance fundamentals.
- Experience with Ruby on Rails, Go, or another modern backend language, with the ability to learn and adapt.
- Ability to own features from clarification through delivery and follow-up while working independently.
- Sound judgment regarding security, reliability, performance, maintainability, operational risk, and backend boundaries.
- Strong written communication and effective collaboration in a remote, asynchronous environment.
- Practical experience with AI coding tools, including reviewing and correcting generated code.
- Helpful experience includes production Go services, APIs, concurrency, profiling, gRPC, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, cloud deployment, Rust, PostgreSQL, schema evolution, caching, queues, messaging, event-driven workflows, and observability tools.
