Base Salary
$120k - $261k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, test, and ship platform capabilities and services for Azure Functions.
- Build and maintain large-scale distributed systems focused on reliability, availability, scalability, performance, security, and cost efficiency.
- Own services across design, development, deployment, monitoring, incident response, troubleshooting, repair, and continuous improvement.
- Use logs, metrics, traces, telemetry, testing, and automation to identify issues and improve production health.
- Investigate and resolve complex issues in running online services across multiple components or dependencies.
- Develop platform tooling and automation for safe deployments, regression detection, rollback, and operational readiness.
- Partner with engineers and stakeholders to define requirements, make technical decisions, and deliver maintainable solutions.
- Contribute to architecture reviews, design reviews, code reviews, engineering standards, and technical direction.
- Mentor engineers and strengthen engineering practices across the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud background check.
- Preferred experience of 2+ years designing, building, operating, or maintaining distributed systems or cloud services.
- Experience developing and maintaining platform or infrastructure components for large-scale online services.
- Experience with public cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with containers and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes.
- Experience improving service reliability, performance, scalability, diagnosability, and operational efficiency.
- Experience troubleshooting complex production issues using logs, metrics, traces, telemetry, and debugging tools.
- Experience with design and code reviews, automated testing, source control, build and release processes, and secure development.
- Strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
Benefits
- The role has a typical U.S. base pay range of USD $119,800–$234,700 per year, with a separate range for specified San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan locations.
- Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
- The Microsoft Cloud background check is required upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.
