Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end technical design and implementation of mainframe banking solutions using CoolGen, CA Gen, CICS, VSAM, JCL, DB2, and COBOL.
- Translate functional requirements into technical specifications aligned with architecture, scalability, and operational standards.
- Provide technical direction for development, coding, unit testing, code reviews, defect remediation, and secure coding practices.
- Optimize CICS and COBOL services, batch processing, transaction throughput, response time, reliability, and resource usage.
- Coordinate DB2 application integration, data modeling, query design, VSAM file configuration, and JCL job streams for batch and online workloads.
- Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, testers, infrastructure, and operations teams on requirements, releases, configurations, and capacity planning.
- Support mainframe migration and modernization initiatives while minimizing disruption to existing services.
- Coordinate performance, stability, and resilience testing and ensure comprehensive technical and operational documentation.
- Mentor developers and analysts on mainframe development, design, and delivery best practices.
Requirements
- Eight to ten years of experience in mainframe delivery.
- Strong hands-on expertise in CoolGen, CA Gen, CICS, VSAM, JCL, DB2, and COBOL.
- Deep understanding of retail banking processes such as accounts, payments, cards, lending, or channels.
- Experience with performance tuning, batch optimization, transaction processing, and efficient mainframe resource utilization.
- Experience analyzing complex production incidents, performing root cause analysis, and implementing durable fixes in regulated banking environments.
- Experience collaborating with testing, operations, business stakeholders, and other cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with hybrid work models and remote collaboration tools.
- Awareness of quality assurance, configuration management, and version control practices for mainframe codebases.
