Responsibilities
- Architect and build strategic trade management platform components for FICC and derivatives businesses.
- Design, code, and deliver production-grade microservices using Java, gRPC, Python/FastAPI, service mesh, reactive architectures, and micro-frontend patterns.
- Engineer sub-millisecond trade processing for rates, credit, FX, and commodities while meeting throughput, resilience, data consistency, and auditability requirements.
- Lead the decommissioning of legacy monolithic systems and migration to a cloud-native system of record with trade-event modeling, exception handling, and real-time valuation capabilities.
- Develop and influence enterprise technical strategy, architecture standards, architecture review boards, and capital markets platform direction.
- Partner with Trading, Quant, Risk, Operations, and Compliance teams to translate business needs into scalable technology solutions.
- Use GitHub Copilot and custom LLM agents to support agentic development practices and delivery velocity.
- Mentor senior engineers and technologists and establish practices for secure, observable, and testable code.
- Advise technology leadership on complex applications, network, information security, database, operating system, and web technology challenges.
Requirements
- 7+ years of engineering experience or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
- 4+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 5 years in a principal or lead architect capacity within a global capital markets environment.
- 4+ years of FICC trade lifecycle experience covering fixed income, currencies, commodities, trade capture, valuation models, and lifecycle event management.
- 4+ years of experience with Java, including concurrency and JVM tuning, and Python, including FastAPI and data science libraries.
- 4+ years of distributed systems experience with gRPC, service mesh technologies such as Istio or Linkerd, and high-performance messaging protocols.
- Experience building or significantly contributing to industry-leading platforms is preferred.
- Knowledge of pricing and risk for complex derivatives such as swaps, options, and exotics is preferred.
- Experience implementing GitHub Copilot or similar AI-assisted engineering tools at scale is preferred.
- Experience with micro-frontends for independently deployable trader UI modules is preferred.
- Familiarity with deploying mission-critical financial systems on hybrid cloud environments and addressing data residency and sovereignty is preferred.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or financial engineering is preferred.
- Ability to work on-site at the posted Charlotte, North Carolina location is required.
