Sr. Lead Software Engineer

- Provide technical guidance and direction to engineering teams, contractors, and vendors.
- Develop secure, high-quality production code and review and debug code written by others.
- Drive adoption, governance, validation standards, and reuse of approved AI-assisted engineering practices and automation.
- Improve software development lifecycle and technical operations through automation, remediation, and proven engineering patterns.
- Influence product design, application functionality, architecture, and technical processes.
- Serve as a function-wide subject matter expert and advocate for firmwide engineering frameworks, tools, and practices.
- Lead evaluation sessions with vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs and technical applicability.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
- Advanced modern front-end development experience with React, including component architecture, state management, performance optimization, and accessible responsive interfaces.
- Hands-on experience modernizing legacy front-end applications, improving build tooling, automating UI testing, and supporting build and release automation.
- Advanced proficiency in Java or Python.
- Experience leading the effective use of AI-assisted software development tools and validating their outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI practices, data sensitivity, secure input and output handling, resiliency, security, and coaching engineers on compliant adoption.
- Ability to solve design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight.
- Proficiency across the Software Development Life Cycle and advanced understanding of application resiliency, security, and related engineering practices.
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems, plus practical cloud-native experience.
- Preferred experience with Playwright or similar end-to-end testing tools, D3, Highcharts, or ECharts, analytics-style UIs, backend API integration, large datasets, pagination or virtualization, caching, and error handling.
