Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain ZDLRA features and enhancements in C and PL/SQL on Linux.
- Develop systems software involving buffers, caches, storage, file systems, I/O, networking, concurrency, and distributed processing.
- Translate requirements into designs, tasks, milestones, and documented technical trade-offs.
- Investigate customer and internal defects by reproducing failures, tracing code paths, identifying root causes, and implementing durable fixes.
- Diagnose CPU, memory, storage, I/O, networking, performance, and scalability issues using diagnostic and profiling tools.
- Develop functional, boundary-condition, regression, concurrency, failure, and recovery tests alongside production code.
- Use shell scripting and automation for diagnostics, issue reproduction, testing, and repeatable development tasks.
- Take assigned work through analysis, design, implementation, review, testing, integration, and maintenance.
- Participate in design and code reviews and collaborate with engineering and database teams in India and the US.
- Document designs, implementations, troubleshooting guidance, and investigation findings.
- Provide technical guidance, mentor colleagues, and improve team development and engineering practices.
- Use LLMs and AI coding agents while independently validating their output for correctness, security, performance, and maintainability.
Requirements
- Strong experience with C, Linux, and systems programming.
- Practical knowledge of database internals, storage, distributed systems, or other demanding enterprise software.
- Strong algorithms, data structures, memory management, concurrency, synchronization, and systems fundamentals.
- Ability to investigate complex software behavior, diagnose root causes, and deliver reliable production fixes.
- Ability to design and implement maintainable software with attention to data integrity, recoverability, performance, compatibility, and security.
- Clear communication, documentation, collaboration, and technical problem-solving skills.
- Oracle Database, RMAN, PL/SQL, or backup and recovery product experience is advantageous.
- Ability to critically review and validate LLM- and AI-generated coding suggestions.
